Principal's Message

Welcome to Hampstead Hill Academy!

Principal Hornbeck

Hampstead Hill Academy is special. We are a safe school with a caring, talented faculty focused on teaching students what they need to know to succeed. Even in the elementary grades, our eye is on high school, college and beyond. We want what you want for your child; the very best opportunities and choices life has to offer.

Our experienced staff was instrumental in our students excelling on the state test again this year. HHA students met every achievement and attendance goal set by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). Also, our students showed significant academic growth over the course of the year on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). As you may know, MAP offers pre and post test data in reading and math to help us measure student growth from the beginning to the end of the year. With MAP, we can see whether our planning and instruction add value to student learning.

But life is about far more than test scores. It’s about discovery and building the leaders of the next generation. It’s about making learning engaging and fun, and getting kids ready for high school and college. We are busy preparing your children by teaching them to write and to think for themselves; how to research, evaluate and interpret information. Our charge is to build minds that move beyond simple recall and comprehension; minds that can identify, analyze and solve complex problems. A student who attends HHA from PreK through 8th grade will be with us for 12,690 hours. To make those hours useful and interesting, our students need to be active learners. They need to be able to retain, transfer and synthesize what they learn in class.

We get better at this work every day. When students write and revise their work, they are studying to become a leader. When students research and develop an idea for a project fair, they are studying to become a leader. When a student can show their neighbor how to do something or explain why they are doing something, they are studying to become a leader. This is the work underway at Hampstead Hill Academy.

Please complete the Student Pre-Registration Information form and schedule a tour.

Sincerely,
